The team at Hales Parker Dentistry feels it is very important to make the community better. We love the community we are in and feel businesses and people that make an impact lead happier lives by lifting up the people around them. We have specifically partnered with a couple organizations to do just that.
While an undergraduate student at BYU in Provo, Utah, Dr. Parker was able to volunteer at a domestic violence shelter. He saw firsthand the positive impact a shelter like this had on the people in need of these services. It was eye opening to see such a specific need and the long lasting effects those helping could have. It is a generational shift or change for these families.
Each year we hold a 4 month promotion where all the money collected for whitening teeth is donated to charity. We participate in the Smiles for Life campaign where 50% of the proceeds go to the national children’s charity and 50% of the proceeds go to our local charity Laura’s House.
So far, we have raised over $35,000 dollars through whitening our patient’s teeth. For each approximate $3,000 donated to Laura’s House, they are able to fully sponsor a family through their program. The mission of Laura’s House is to “change social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse.” For more information on their program, please visit them at their website www.laurashouse.org.
