If you have dental anxiety, we can help. Sedation dentistry will calm your nerves and help you relax while you undergo your smile redesign.
If you are in the Ladera Ranch Mission Viejo, Las Sorres, or San Juan Capistrano area and have cosmetic dentistry questions, give us a call to schedule a consultation. We also provide general and family dentistry.
Effective brushing and flossing are two critical habits for dental health. But at Parker Dentistry in Ladera Ranch, we remind our patients there are many more things we can all do to preserve a healthy smile.
One of the best things you can do is watch what you eat. Some tips:
Do eat a nutritious diet with a variety of foods. This is required for overall physical health and a strong immune system.
Do consume calcium-rich dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt to neutralize acids that are dangerous to enamel.
Don’t eat sugary foods. Sugar generates the production of harmful cavity-causing acids that weaken enamel and lead to tooth decay.
Don’t snack throughout the day. This revs up plaque production and subjects the teeth to continual contact with acids.
Don’t chew on ice. (It can chip teeth.)
Don’t drink energy drinks. They have many substances that are dangerous to teeth.
Other Important Tips
Don’t use your teeth as tools. It is better to cut that knotted shoelace than to gnaw at it to try to untangle it.
Don’t get piercings in or around your mouth.
Don’t ignore tooth pain or sensitivity.
If you have children, ask us about water fluoridation. If your municipal water supply is not fluoridated, you may want to give your little one fluoride supplements.
Don’t use a medium or hard bristle toothbrush. It can damage gums.
If you have an eating disorder, seek professional help straightaway. Bulimia and anorexia are extremely damaging to teeth, not to mention the toll they take on the heart and other organs.
We encourage all of our Ladera Ranch-area patients to maintain a lifestyle that encourages dental health as well as physical health.
Many Ladera Ranch residents consider the myriad options available to stop the aging clock. Whether it is a surgical procedure, botox, hair implants, or a chemical peel, California residents have countless choices to help them look more youthful. I am Dr. Lincoln Parker and I am exited to tell you about a simple and affordable procedure we offer at Parker Dentistry that can create a younger looking you.
Porcelain veneers will produce a smile that will have people asking you if you have lost weight or started going to the gym because the effect is stunning.
Haven’t you noticed that when you talk with someone who has sparkling, straight white teeth, their smile catches your eye? An engaging smile draws attention away from wrinkles or a flabby belly because a dazzling smile is the first impression others have of you – and it is impossible to ignore!
At Parker Dentistry, our porcelain veneers will improve the color of your teeth, cover chips, cracks, or misshapen teeth. Veneers can lengthen teeth that look too short, fill in gaps between teeth and cover any irregularities your teeth may have. Porcelain veneers reflect light the same way natural teeth do, making them a great choice for a smile makeover.
If you are a middle-aged (or older) Ladera Ranch or Rancho Santa Margarita resident pondering ways to improve your appearance, Parker Dentistry can help you turn back the clock by creating a youthful smile. We offer affordable, professional services including cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and family dentistry.
The smiles in the Ladera Ranch area can rival those of Beverly Hills 90210 thanks to porcelain veneers. Contact Parker Dentistry today for a younger you!
Dental crowns have been around a long time, but they continue to play an important role in Ladera Ranch cosmetic dentistry. A dental crown, often called a cap, covers the visible part of the tooth.
Dental crowns are used for several problems common among Rancho Santa Margarita cosmetic dentistry patients:
An old crown that is damaged or ill-fitting A broken tooth A tooth with extreme decay A tooth that has had a root canal A tooth that is too small or misshapen A tooth that prevents a proper bite
A dental crown serves both structural and aesthetic purposes. It protects a natural tooth from additional decay and damage while permitting normal function. In addition, a dental crown often prevents the need for an extraction and the bone loss that can occur with a missing tooth.
Rancho Santa Margarita cosmetic dentistry patients who get a dental crown should not assume that the tooth is now invincible. Crowns need daily cleaning and flossing just like natural teeth. The remaining tooth structure just around the gumline could still become decayed and the soft tissue around the crown is susceptible to gum disease.
Chewing hard foods or using your teeth as a tool can cause a crown to crack or break. (Use scissors to open a stubborn plastic package – don’t bite and pull!) Your Ladera Ranch cosmetic dentist can advise you on caring for your new crown so that it will last as long as possible. Some of our Las Sorres patients have crowns that are still looking beautiful after ten years.
There are many simple things that the average Las Sorres area resident can do to raise their Dental IQ and improve their oral health. One simple lesson involves bacteria, and everyone’s mouth has a lot of it.
But, don’t worry, bacteria per se isn’t the problem. Dental problems occur for Rancho Santa Margarita patients when the balance of bacteria becomes unhealthy. This is where brushing and flushing come into play. Another precaution you can take to guard against the wrong kind of bacteria is to keep your toothbrush as far away from the toilet as possible, and close the lid of the toilet before you flush.
Make sure to wash your hands before you brush and floss. No exceptions!
When it comes to a good toothbrush, don’t get sentimental. The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every three to four months. If you can avoid the unhealthy balance of bacteria in your mouth, you can avoid gum disease, tooth decay, as well as bad breath.
If you can avoid decay, it’s less likely that you will need more extensive dental work such as dental implants and crowns.

The word ‘LASER’ is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. A laser device emits a powerful, highly-concentrated beam of light. (Didn’t we all love the amazing laser weapons in ‘Star Wars?’) Lasers are used in hundreds of applications in almost every California industry including communications, researching, manufacturing, entertainment and medicine.
Lasers are now used in some technologically-advanced Ladera Ranch dental practices on both hard (tooth) and soft (gum) tissue. Lasers allow Rancho Santa Margarita cosmetic dentists a degree of precision that was previously impossible.
How do lasers benefit our Mission Viejo dental patients?
Fewer stitches (some surgical procedures require no sutures)
Shorter healing time
Decreased chance of infection
Less damage to surrounding tissue/bone
Increased patient comfort – anesthesia is often unnecessary
San Juan Capistrano dentists use lasers in crown lengthening, decay detection, bacteria removal in root canals, gum recontouring, biopsy, lesion removal, and tooth whitening.
The latest dental technology is useless without the skill and experience necessary to deliver the best possible outcomes. Let us show you some photos of the results we routinely achieve at Parker Dentistry in Ladera Ranch.
Hi. I’m Dr. Lincoln Parker. When my Mission Viejo and Las Sorres area patients get mouth sores, I advise them to evaluate what they’re eating and make some changes. By following these tips, you too can avoid the discomfort of eating and help to increase the speed of healing.
1. Eat soft or pureed foods. Don’t worry, you won’t have to eat baby food – plenty of adult dishes fit the bill:
cream soups yogurt hot cereal mashed potatoes puddings
2. Keep your meals bland for a while. I know it’s no fun, but watch out for overly spicy, tart, salty or acidic foods while you have a mouth sore.
3. Also, keep it cool. Eat only food that is at room temperature or is served chilled.
4. Use a straw so that whatever you are drinking can bypass the mouth sore altogether.
5. Try to moisten dry foods. This can be done by adding sauces, dressings, and gravies to your meals.
I hope that these suggestions will help you the next time you suffer from a mouth sore. If you are looking for a dentist in the Rancho Santa Margarita area, consider my practice, Parker Dentistry. The very idea of visiting a dentist holds a negative connotation for many people. If you are an adult with dental anxiety, or if your child is preparing to visit the dentist for the first time, here are a few tips that may help ease you into regular dental checkups and put you on the path toward increased oral health and wellness.
Choose a dentist in Ladera Ranch who is appropriate for your needs. When you meet your new Ladera Ranch dentist for the first time, make an effort to ask questions about the care you will receive. Be sure to meet with your dentist about his/her experience, age range of patients, and recommended procedures for any problems you may have. Get to know your Ladera Ranch dentist so you feel comfortable and relaxed.
Be prepared to provide your Ladera Ranch dentist with information. Whether you are experiencing specific pain at that moment, or are anticipating a problem, be sure to discuss everything with your dentist. Many patients become intimidated in the office environment and avoid expressing pain or discussing issues. As your dentist, I need to know your history and everything you are experiencing. I will be better prepared to help if I have accurate and complete information.
There is no need to feel self-conscious if it has been a long time since you have received dental treatment. I have treated many first-time patients in your situation and have developed a trusting relationship with them.
The best way to have a good experience with a new dentist is to communicate. Let me know what you are experiencing so that I can make adjustments and help you feel more comfortable and secure. If we determine that you are going to need an important dental procedure more extensive than filling a cavity, let’s discuss sedation dentistry.
At Parker Dentistry our friendly staff will work to make your dental experience a pleasant one. We know it can be uncomfortable to visit the dentist for the first time or after a long while. We’ll do what we can to make you feel relaxed, secure, and among caring friends.
If you are in Ladera Ranch, California and are ready to visit the dentist again, give us a call at 949-429-0049 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to meeting you and your family.

Hello Ladera Ranch! Do you want brighter, whiter teeth? Most Las Sorres residents notice their teeth dulling as the years go by, but some foods, drinks, and even mouthwashes can stain teeth at any age.
OTC tooth whitening products like kits, strips, or toothpastes may slightly lighten stains, but for a truly beautiful smile, see Lincoln Parker!
If you have dental veneers, bonding, or bridges, teeth whitening bleach will not influence the stains and your whitened natural teeth may make your dental work look even duller in comparison. At Parker Dentistry, we can advise you about new dental work, including veneers or bondings, if these have discolored with age.
Remember, anything that can stain a white t-shirt can stain teeth.
Fortunately, brushing after meals can keep stains at bay; however, after consuming acidic foods or drinks, just rinse your mouth with water. Brushing right away can erode enamel.
In-office teeth whitening takes about an hour and bleaches teeth to a whiter-than-ever brilliance. Professional take-home whitening kits are also available at Parker Dentistry and can produce fantastic results over time.

Getting a smile just like their favorite singer or movie star might be high on your teen’s priority list. However, you may want to talk with your Mission Viejo, Las Sorres, or Rancho Santa Margarita dentist before buying an at-home tooth whitening product.
As with any cosmetic dentistry procedure, teeth whitening should be overseen by a professional. There are a number of factors that can affect results such as an existing crown or teeth that have not yet erupted. Some medical conditions can cause teeth to darken. Your Rancho Santa Margarita dentist can determine if a teen’s tooth stains are a symptom of an underlying condition.
It’s always a good idea to stress prevention over treatments, especially with kids. Make sure your teen is practicing proper oral health habits and help them understand that coffee, tea, cola, and energy drinks can stain their teeth. And if they need another reason not to smoke, remind them that tobacco products will destroy their beautiful smile along with their lungs. Lastly, warn them of the dangers of oral piercings, which include tooth damage and infection.
If you or any member of your family decides to use an over-the-counter teeth whitener, be sure to follow the instructions exactly, as the bleaching agents used can damage your mouth and gums.
